Shopify continues its impressive growth by expanding its New York City offices to nearly 60,000 square feet in the iconic building at 85 10th Avenue. Now occupying the entire eighth floor, this expansion represents a crucial milestone for the company in its ambitious growth plan in the heart of the city. A Strategic Foothold in New York City Based on a portion of the eighth floor of the former Nabisco building, Shopify recently signed an agreement for the remainder of the floor, covering the entire 59,671 square feet. This development is part of a strategic effort to increase its presence in a key region, located on the border of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, with privileged access to iconic locations such as Chelsea Market and the High Line. A Well-Orchestrated Expansion **Shopify’s expansion was facilitated by key industry players. Jamie Katcher, Sebastian Infante, and Emilie Goldman of JLL, a firm recognized for its expertise in commercial real estate, represented Shopify in this transaction. This team shares a history with the company, having also overseen the initial lease during Shopify’s move from SoHo in 2023.**The Strategic Partnership Behind the Project **The 645,000-square-foot building is owned by a joint venture between Vornado Realty Trust and Related Companies.**This bold partnership has modernized this former industrial site, originally designed as a biscuit factory in 1913. A specialized team led by Edward Riguardi of Vornado and Colin Sullivan of Related played a central role in closing this crucial agreement. Both entities chose not to comment on the deal, while JLL did not respond to requests for comment.

A dynamic and connected environment

85 10th Avenue’s prime location is reinforced by its proximity to Google, which occupies nearly half of the building, in addition to other notable tenants such as the Crane Club restaurant, the biometrics company Clear, and a Telehouse data center. This vibrant environment is conducive to innovation, reflecting Shopify’s commitment to positioning itself at the heart of urban technology and commercial developments.
